Reflecting on Our Latest NECANN Network Meeting

Reflecting on Our Latest NECANN Network Meeting

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the most recent NECANN online network meeting! It was a pleasure to connect with so many passionate individuals and organisations working to support children and young people with additional needs across the North East.

We hope you found the session informative and inspiring. We were lucky to hear from some fantastic speakers who shared valuable insights and resources with the group.

🌟 Spotlight on Grace House

A huge thank you to Vicki Cavanagh and Kelly Moore from Grace House, who gave us a brilliant overview of their organisation and the wonderful work they do. Grace House is a warm and welcoming space offering support and respite for families, and we highly encourage you to reach out or arrange a visit.

đź’ˇ Advocacy with Shine

We also want to extend our thanks to Claire Rowland from Shine, who shared powerful insights into advocacy and how we can all play a role in supporting children with spina bifida and hydrocephalus. Claire’s webinar was a highlight, and her organisation’s YouTube channel is packed with helpful content.

đź—Ł Shaping the Future of NECANN

Toward the end of the meeting, Bev and Tracey introduced themselves and shared some exciting ideas for the future of NECANN. We’re keen to hear your thoughts and feedback to help shape what comes next.

Here are a few questions we’d love your input on:

  • How do you find the current network format?
  • Do you prefer face-to-face, online, or hybrid meetings?
  • Would you like to alternate between online and in-person sessions?
  • How would you feel about taking NECANN “on the road” to visit different member spaces?
  • Would you be interested in a big annual event to make the network more engaging? (Ideas include a race across the North East, speed networking, or a conference-style gathering.)

Please feel free to share your thoughts with us—we’re open to all suggestions and excited to evolve NECANN with your input.

đź“… Save the Date

Our next NECANN meeting will be an in-person event on December 4th. We’re looking forward to seeing many of you there!

If you know someone who would benefit from joining NECANN, please share our contact email: northeast@cann-network.org. We love welcoming new faces to the network!

Best wishes,
Bev, Tracey and Kerry
