An inclusive celebration of the iconic Tour De France, for disabled people with complex needs and supporters.

Tour De France is the world’s most iconic cycling event, with cyclists from all over the world competing in 21 races in 21 days.Every year, we celebrate with our very own Tour De Sense in a team effort to cycle as far as possible! Last year, 75 people collectively cycled a total of 35 hours, the equivalent of over 350 miles – enough to cycle from TouchBase Pears in Birmingham to the Tour De France finish line in Paris! This year, with brand new sponsors Decathlon supporting us, we are encouraging all disabled people with complex needs, family members, staff at Sense and community groups to get involved.

Get involved

From the 4 July to 26 July, join us in-person, virtually or remotely. You can:

  • Attend your local Tour De Sense adapted cycling event – more details coming soon.
  • Use hand and foot pedals in your service or at home – if you don’t have a hand or foot pedal, contact us.
  • Use a gym bike.
  • Go for a cycle in your local community.

If you would like to register for Tour De Sense, please complete our short registration form here.

Once registered, you’ll receive more information about how to track your distance and additional support.

Need more inspiration? Meet Jack

A man is being pedalled in a wheelchair by a woman sitting behind him. He's grinning at the camera

Jack, from Sense Hub Caerphilly, has been especially enjoying our Tour De Sense challenge. He cycled for over ninety minutes across the month, contributing to Caerphilly’s total cycling time of 7.5 hours!Due to Jack’s medication, he is often sleepy throughout the day and can disengage if an activity is not of interest to him. One morning, staff recalled that Jack was particularly sleepy… However, as soon as he got on the bike, he lit up, smiling and laughing, “a very clear sign he was loving the activity!”

  • Who it’s for & Group Size: Suitable for all ages up to 18, plus their immediate family members. This is a big celebration and we have space for around 200 people, so it will be a wonderfully busy and lively atmosphere!
  • Date & Time: Sunday 12th July 2026, 11:00am – 1:00pm

🚗 Getting There & Arrival

  • Venue Address: Royal Armouries Museum, Armouries Drive, Leeds, LS10 1LT
  • Venue Website: Royal Armouries Leeds Website
  • Parking & Arrival Warning:
    • CitiPark Multi-Storey: The main parking is at the multi-storey car park on Armouries Drive (right next to the venue). It features dedicated Blue Badge parking spaces on the ground floor. The route from this car park to the museum entrance is flat and paved.
    • Alternative Parking: There is limited pay-and-display street parking on the surrounding streets within a short walking distance.
    • ⚠️ NO DROP-OFF POINT: Please note that there is absolutely no drop-off zone directly outside the venue. Do not stop your car outside the main entrance, as the venue enforcement teams issue strict fines for stopping. Please park first before making your way to the building.
  • Finding Little Hiccups: Come in through the main entrance and take an immediate right. Look out for the Little Hiccups banner! Our team of Hiccups reps will be waiting right there to welcome you, tick your name off the register, and send you on your way to go party!
  • Entrance Doors: The main entrance to the Royal Armouries features flat, step-free entry with automatic glass sliding doors.

🚶 Moving Around Inside

  • Corridors & Space: The party is being held entirely on the ground level. The Royal Armouries has very wide, spacious, and flat walkways with plenty of room to navigate large specialized wheelchairs, power chairs, and double pushchairs easily.
  • Lifts & Levels: Our event area is completely step-free and on a single level, so you won’t need to use any lifts to access the party.
  • Seating: There will be seating areas provided within our party space for parents and children to sit, relax, and enjoy the entertainment.

🚽 Toilets & Changing Facilities

  • Standard Accessible Toilet: There are fully accessible toilets located on the ground floor close to our party room.
  • Changing Places Toilet: Excellent news! The Royal Armouries now features a fully certified, permanent Changing Places toilet equipped with a tracking hoist, adult-sized changing bench, and central toilet. This is located on the ground floor, very close to where our party is being held.
  • Family & All-Gender Toilets: Accessible facilities are available to ensure parents can easily support children of any gender.
  • Baby Changing: Dedicated baby changing facilities are available on the ground floor.

🎧 Sensory & Calm Spaces

  • Lighting & Sound: Because this is a K-POP party with 200 guests, live singing, and entertainment, it will be loud, energetic, and bright! There may be party lighting and amplified music.
  • Little Hiccups Quiet Area: If the excitement gets a bit too much and your child needs a break from the noise, you can head back to the registration room where you first entered. We will have sensory toys, colouring, and games set up here for anyone wanting a quieter space. Noise-cancelling headphones are also available. We will have a small blackout tent on hand, which can be taken out upon request—please just ask a member of the Hiccups team!

🍰 Food & Drinks

  • What’s provided: Food options are currently being confirmed, but catering will be served around 12:00pm.
  • Dietary Info: Please make sure to let us know about any allergies or specific dietary requirements when filling out your booking form so we can plan accordingly!

🌳 Outdoor Spaces

  • Paths & Ground: The area immediately outside the Royal Armouries (Leeds Dock) is flat and paved with wide flagstones.
  • Hazards to Note: The venue is situated right next to the canal water at Leeds Dock. The dock edge does not have continuous safety railings, so please keep a close eye on children if you step outside for some fresh air.

⛑️ Safety & Support

  • First Aid: Little Hiccups staff are first-aid trained, and the Royal Armouries has a dedicated professional first-aid team and room on-site.
  • Emergency Evacuation: The ground floor features multiple wide, step-free emergency exit doors leading directly out to the safe assembly spaces at Leeds Dock.
  • Full Accessibility Profile: For even finer details about the venue’s layout, you can view the Royal Armouries Full Accessibility Guide.

Join WheelPower and Luiz Faye for a FREE Online Adaptive Box-Fit Class from the comfort of your homes LIVE on Zoom.

  • Luiz Faye will be your fitness trainer for this live class from WheelPower. During this online class Luiz will be taking us through a 40-minute workout that includes a short warm-up and warm down.
  • The new Adaptive Box-fit classes are the perfect introduction to the sport with no equipment needed, and are suitable for most people who are unable to participate in boxing from a standing position.
  • The sessions are designed to incorporate functional fitness, strength and conditioning; paying particular attention to the transfer of adaptive boxing skills and drills to increase core stability, mobility and overall upper body strength.
  • Although all our sessions feature an element of adaptive boxing, experience is not necessary. In fact, you don’t even need to take the sport out of your living room so there’s no pressure to jump in the ring!  Consider it to be boxing moves for the functional benefits and not for the fight!
  • All the exercises are done from a seated position and can be adapted to suit varying abilities and fitness levels.  You must, however, be guided by your body and work out to suit your needs safely.

Example programme:

  • 11:00 to 11:05 – Welcome and introduction
  • 11:05 to 11:45 – Workout (approx. 40 minutes)
  • 11:45 to 11:55 – Q&A opportunity
  • 11:55 to 12:00 – WheelPower programmes

Sunbeams is our youngest group and is for any children from birth (or even before!) to 4 years along with their siblings, parents and carers. It is a lovely time for playing, chatting and sharing a cuppa with other familes. We always end the group with a time of singing and signing which is popular with the little ones.

We would ask people to be mindful of the vulnerability of people with Down syndrome; please do not attend a face to face session if you are unwell with something that could be passed on to others –  we are grateful for your ongoing understanding and consideration of each other.
